Pictures of Me in My New Home ...

Letters from My New Home ...

May 27, 2008 – Aurora, now Pearl
  • Hey all! Here are some pictures of Aurora (now Pearl) that we adopted in early May. At the moment she has a little cast on her back left foot from a broken toe from playing too hard with her sister Lena. She's doing just fine though! I know you all knew her as the little sweet and quiet Aurora, but she has definitely come out of her shell and she is quite the perky, energetic, people loving dog. And she sure loves to sleep! We enjoy her so much and she's a great addition to the family! ~The Bernardis

May 27, 2008 – McKinley
  • What an awesome boy! McKinley was returned twice for barking and at first, I wasn't interested in him because I already had dogs with barking issues. However, the more time I spent with him, I began to realize that he may have been barking for a reason, either out of frustration or loneliness. At that point, AAWL was willing to work with me on introducing him to my already large pack of 4 dogs who were all adopted from shelters or rescues and all of whom had problems of their own! The intros went extremely well, and I finalized McKinley's adoption on May 24, 2008. He's been an absolute joy to me! He has no barking or any other issues of any kind. He's a perfect dog in every way! He's 7 years old so I don't know how long I will have him, but I will make the remainder of his life comfortable and safe. I have volunteered for several organizations over the past 20 years, but I think AAWL does the best job of matching pets to adopters, making sure the animals' needs and owners' expectations are met. Here are a few pictures of McKinley in his new home. He seems to have adjusted pretty well! ~Jane

May 24, 2008 – Taffy, now Maya
  • We adopted Taffy (now Maya) on April 20, 2008. We wanted to send you a few pictures to show how well she's doing in her new home. She's a terrific puppy who loves to play with her rope, wrestle with our other dog, and cuddle when she gets tired (which takes awhile). Thanks for our new family member! ~Sam & Susan

May 23, 2008 – Blizzard, now Lizzy
  • She is a perfect fit in our house! She now has two cats, Kate and Ace who love her - and she loves them. ~The Borgs

May 20, 2008 – Brogan, now Zoe
  • She is a great little puppy and in a very loving home. Thanks for all your help in placing her with us. ~The Winandys

May 17, 2008 – Leona, now Banana
  • Thank you guys so much for all your help in finding Banana! Bailey and Matt were very patient and helpful! Banana is the sweetest dog and has made us so happy in the past 7 months. Thanks! ~The Knights

May 8, 2008 – Love, now Pinchy
  • Update May 8, 2008 -> Pinchy is doing SO well! She is playing non-stop with Weasey, and is learning to play, with caution, with my cats. She is a good girl about sleeping in her crate right next to my bed, but I’d love to figure out how to re-set her internal alarm (she always wakes up at 5:30am). She is also getting the hang of potty training. She really is the perfect girl for us. We took her to the vet yesterday for her 2nd puppy shots, and she gave him lots of kisses! He thought that she was lovely, and very healthy. Thank you! ~The Sanchez' May 3, 2008 -> To our new friends at AAWL: Even though I have been sitting home for the last 2 days, I’m getting NOTHING done! I sit with the baby on my lap, or we just sit outside all day (easier to prevent mistakes that way!). All of the animals are getting along wonderfully (although we are learning about the sharp parts of cats). I just wanted to thank you (again) for the wonderful job that you are doing. It is so clear how much you love and respect these animals. There is no way we would have even considered doing what we did (800 miles later!), had it not been for your kind words and patience. All of you made us feel so special, and turned a long day into a joyful adventure. This was clearly the “meant to be” that we had hoped for. It was very hard to get everyone to agree on a new name. We started with “Miss Kitty” (a tribute to Amanda Blake, but too girly for the 15 year old), went on to Koko (silverback gorilla who uses sign language), but wound up with Pinchy (a tribute to Homer Simpsons’ favorite pet) after we realized that she looks like 100% affenpinscher. We couldn’t beat a nod to her breed AND the Simpsons! She is a pure gift to this house, and we appreciate how special she is. Keep on doing what you do! ~The Sanchez'

May 5, 2008 – Bella
  • Just wanted to send you a couple of pics of Bella. She is doing great. It took her a couple of days to get adjusted, but she is all well now as you can see from the pictures. I would like to thank Lesley and the rest of your staff for being so patient with us when you were working with us after you had closed, and allowed us to bring her home with us. Thanks. ~The Kerrs

May 1, 2008 – Desoto, now Ziggy Marley
  • Just wanted to give you an update on our adoption of "Desoto" at the Paws in the Park event. We have named him Ziggy Marley (after all we didn't want to call him an old car!!) Actually his full name is Sigfried (his Dad's name is Roy!), but our son, who is finishing his first year at ASU, doesn't want to call him that so he came up with Ziggy Marley. He is a joy and very well behaved... going potty outside all the time. He is chewing a bit and has very sharp teeth, but he is a puppy so we kind of expected that. Everyone who sees him thinks he's the cutest and he even stops traffic!! Our daughter who lives in Ca. is coming home this weekend and can't wait to meet her lil' bro! We wanted to share our success story. ~The Shapiros

April 29, 2008 – Zoey
  • I received a call yesterday from [adoption counselor] asking about the status of our new puppy, Zoey, which we adopted on April 17, 2008. She is a 10 week old shepherd mix and is sweet as can be. She has put on about three or four pounds since coming home with us and gets along great with everybody and every dog she meets. She is almost house broken but not quite although she seems to have trained herself to go on the puppy pads which we laid down for her but never really showed her what they were for. She, also, has learned to use the doggie door and does go out to go potty if she has time. We took her to our Vet last week and while she slept, she got her next puppy shot, had her nails clipped and an overall exam. She loves going for a walk and is getting used to the leash quite well. All in all, we are very pleased with her. Thanks for all you do for the animals. ~The Christensens

April 29, 2008 – Toto, now Zacharia Paws
  • Hello Everyone! I just wanted to give you an update on Toto. He was adopted Sunday, April 20th and he is AWESOME! We love him so much. He was a little skiddish at first, naturally, but he warms up very quickly. The first night he was scared to sleep in our bed and got out a couple of times and sat on the couch. : ( So I would give him lovin's and bring him back into bed and he stayed--and has not wanted to leave the bed ever since! We actually changed his name to Zacharia Paws (Zach) because he did not answer to Toto anyway. He knows his name is Zach now. He has only had two "accidents" in the house and used his potty pad only once. Otherwise he goes outside!!! He absolutely loves to snuggle and give kisses and kisses and more kisses!! He is so adorable. He loves his chew bones and he takes Mom's shoes and carries them around (does not chew on them). He also begs to be chased! He loves it! We took him to meet a friend's dog, Pepper, and he had a blast with her. He was taunting her to chase him and they would run around the yard. He is really good on a leash now too! He got a stern "NO!" for running up to our rescued parrots too fast---(just in case!) and he wants nothing to do with them now! He is very smart and learns quickly. We know you all love the animals there and we had such a great experience adopting Zach! He is truly a blessing and we love him dearly. We got his crazy hair cut the next day after we brought him home. Thanks again! ~The Brokalakis

April 17, 2008 – Topher, now Sam
  • Here are some photos of our "fuzzy" kid, Sam (was Topher). We adopted him from AAWL on 1/16/08, and he is wonderful-a gentle companion and real "love bug." Thank you for rescuing him and taking such good care of him until he could come home to us! ~The Hodges

April 14, 2008 – Seamus
  • Here are some photos of Seamus. He's loving his new home and we love him so much. He's gained 8 pounds since we got him in March and also he's grown an inch I believe because he's now slightly taller than our other dog Coco. He's awesome!!!! Thank you so much for your help in picking out the best match for our family. ~Jackie, Ben (Athena, Perseus & Coco & Seamus)

April 13, 2008 – Senneca
  • Senneca's a wonderful little girl and is gentle, affectionate and well-mannered at home. She doesn't jump on furniture, she only takes things when given -- never snatches or grabs. She has no trouble chewing or damaging things in the house (some paper kitchen towels and a couple of egg cartons aside). At the dog park, she burns off her energy and is well known by all the regulars as the fastest dog in the park. Her favorite sport is herding and barrel-rolling labs. We completed Beginners agility classes and are almost half way through Advanced Beginner. She still turns into a frenzied cat chasing monster when she spots a cat -- not much progress there. Thanks! ~John, Kalpana & Senneca

April 10, 2008 – Drambui, now Winnie
  • I just wanted to give you an update on Miss Drambui (now Winnie). She has been doing great since she came home with us. There have been no potty accidents in the house and she is finally starting to eat more. She's pretty skinny but we plan on fattening her up to a healthy weight. She sleeps through most of the night unless we leave her favorite hedge hog squeaky toy out. She just can't resist squeezing it at 2:30 AM. If she's not squeaking it she tries to bury it in the backyard (without much success since our ground is fairly hard...but she still tries and it's pretty cute to watch her). She has made a few new friends, a min pin named Nola, an australian shepard named Harley, a corgi named Tasha and the neighborhood bulldog named Buster. She had fun at the dog park running as fast as she could after the ball and then not having any interest in picking it up. She just wanted to run around and visit as many people as she could possibly find to pet her. She prances and wags her tail on her daily walks and like you said, walks on a leash 'like a dream'. We love, love, love, love her and feel so lucky to be her forever home. Thank you for all the wonderful things you do at AAWL!! ~Amy

April 10, 2008 – Buddy
  • Buddy is doing great!!!! He is such a good boy, really listens well, and learns extremely fast. He has made a perfect addition to the family, (if you ask anyone but the kitty), :) Thank you again for all the patience and stellar service we received!!! ~Jayme & Brandon

April 8, 2008 – Dixon
  • Great weekend for Dixon’s new home and everyone is happy to be together. Dixon playing a lot, checking everything out and learning his new home. Dixon and Bunker play until their tongues hang out and the cat gets in there too. Dixon loves his food and takes his meds so well. He is a great dog. Thanks for everything, we are so………happy with Dixon and can not thank you enough for all you did for Dixon and us. You have a great place and do such good work with the animals. I will keep you posted from time to time on how Dixon is doing. Thanks again for everything. ~Carol B.

March 23, 2008 – Billie, now Bindi
  • I am just writing to give ya'll a quick update on Bindi (who you called Billie). My fiance and I adopted her 2/1/2008. She came home to live with us, our two (adopted) dogs and our two ratties. She is doing GREAT! She fit in with our family immediately. Now the three dogs are inseparable. We all go to the dog park, and although Bindi prefers her brothers (and Cooper's "girlfriend" Copper-the dog of our good friend), Bindi plays great with all the other dogs at the dog park. Bindi has come such a long way from the near-feral little girl AAWL found, she is a perfect example of what love and a forever home can do for a dog. Bindi is truly an excellent addition to our household. She gets all the love and attention she deserves (both the canine-kind and the human-kind). Thanks for finding our "Baby Girl" for us! ~Kim R.

March 19, 2008 – Serenity, now Kocoa
  • We just wanted to let you know that Serenity, now Kocoa is doing great!!! The drive home to Colorado was good. She didn't know what to think of the snow!!! Kocoa has settled very well and is a great part of our family. Our son Austin and Kocoa are the best of friends. Kocoa has taken over the couch at night and comes to work with me everyday, customers that come into our store just love her. I'm sending you a few pictures to see her new home in Colorado. The thousand mile drive was well worth it. Thank you to everyone at the shelter for taking good care of her. ~The Kirks, Dove Creek, Colorado

March 7, 2008 – Terri, now Cheyanne
  • Cheyanne is a true treasure and a joy. I hope all her other [shelter] siblings end up as loved as she is. Thank you for taking care of her. -Robin & Dan

March 2, 2008 – Lucky Eddie
  • Matt: Bob and I want to thank you for all your help in selecting our new family member 'Lucky Eddie.' As you know, we made several trips to the shelter to see Lucky Eddie before we made our final decision. Eddie is a great addition to the family. It only took him a few days before he started coming out of his shell. Much faster than we had anticipated. He and Walker are good buds - you would never know they hadn't been together for years. He is such a sweet little dog and we feel very lucky to have him as a part of our family. Thanks for all the good work you do in helping pets find their 'forever homes.' I know you helped Bob and I make a great decision. I have attached a few pictures of Lucky Eddie (Bob & I are the lucky one's). Take care, Cheryl & Bob

Febuary 16, 2008 – Viola
  • We haven't stopped talking about Viola or showing pictures of her.

February 7, 2008 – Brooklyn, now Riley
  • It's been a week now and "Brooklyn" (now Riley) is a pure delight. She's charming, well mannered, and trustworthy. And she's a great hiker.

January 31, 2008 – Flower
  • Here are some photos of Flower. We are enjoying her so much and everyone loves her to pieces! She gets along great with our other dogs and even our cats. Thank you so much for taking care of her.

January 31, 2008 – Viola
  • I thought you all would like to know how Viola is settling in. I was really touched to see all the emails from the volunteers. Viola has made herself right at home. She sleeps in my bed at night and spends the day lounging on the couch. Last night she came to work with me for a few hours and got lots of attention. She is getting used to the cold but does her best to get right back in the house after a walk. We are totally in love! Thanks to everyone who took care of her at the shelter.

January 29, 2008 – Spike & Glory, now Tucker & Gracie
  • Here are some recent pics of Tucker and Gracie, aka Spike and Glory. They play together everyday while their mommies are at work. Both have recently been to the vet and petsmart at least 5 times for toys, new clothes and spa days. Here are their most recent glamour photos! Thanks for introducing them to us. Have a great day- let us know if you put them on the website as success stories, maybe even together! We'd love to contribute if you wanted to do that. Thanks so much.

January 22, 2008 – Dalton & Leona, now Aiden & Banana, now Riley
  • Last October my sister and I each adopted a puppy from AAWL. We wanted to share a picture of them with you all. You were so helpful and caring. In the photo is Aiden (formerly Dalton, adopted Oct. 4, 2007) and Banana (formerly Leona, adopted Oct. 6, 2007). Thank you for all you have done!

January 17, 2008 – Chief, aka Saffron <3
  • Just wanted to let you know that our dog Saffron passed today. He was a sweet and loving dog and we enjoyed the time we had with him. We are very sad to lose him.

January 2, 2008 – Chandon, now Bear
  • I love him and he is a great addition to our family. -Brittainy

December 29, 2007 – Daisey, now Dancing Daisey Doodle
  • Thank you AAWL/SPCA for all you do!!! It has already been 7 months since we brought Daisey home with us. Actually her full name is Dancing Daisey Doodle, because she dances every time we come home or when she is excited. And oh my goodness, she has got to be the best dog ever! She has completed our family. It took a while for her to get completely comfortable with us. We wonder what her life before us was like. She was very timid, particularly with men. What a different dog she is today, she is such a lover. She wont take her eyes off of me, she loves the kids and other dogs. She loves to go for walks around the green belt, we don't even need the leash she stays right by our side. She especially loves to have her belly rubbed! Here is a picture of her in her kennel (which she loves) and her new bone that Santa brought her. Thank you again, The Garnsey Family

December 21, 2007 – Preston, now Arthur
  • In a few weeks, it will be Arthur's 7th Birthday. He came home with me from AAWL (where you called him Preston) just about 6 years ago now, and I think he has been very happy. Thank you for keeping him safe for me. -AJ

December 19, 2007 – Judah, now Smokee
  • Here are the newest pictures of our adorable Smokee (a.k.a. Judah) who we adopted on December 8. He has become an instant member of our family and has brought us more joy and warmth then we ever could imagined. He is smart, expressive and very affectionate. Although he is only 8 months old, he has mastered the doggie door, knows his name and is our constant companion. We cannot thank all of you enough for the wonderful care that you provided him from the veterinary staff, the animal caregivers, the trainers and the adoption staff. We know that without the dedication of each one of you that we never would have had the opportunity to adopt our little Smokee. He has enriched our lives beyond measure! Have a wonderful holiday season. Smokee looks forward to being a foster brother in the near future as well! -Marty & Jim

December 15, 2007 – Flora
  • Flora wants everyone to see her and her sisters… she is very happy.

December 13, 2007 – Ranger, now Bailey
  • I adopted Bailey aka Ranger in October. He's doing great! Thanks so much for all you do :)

December 10, 2007 – Nutmeg, now Beau
  • My husband and I adopted Nutmeg (a chiweenie mix) in the Spring...he is now 'Beau' ...and the best dog my husband and I have EVER had. He is so loving, loyal and SO much fun...he was the best addition to our family and we are so blessed to have him in our lives....he makes us so happy and he is one spoiled little boy! What can I say...we are in love! Thank you AAWL/SPCA! ~The Smiths~

December 9, 2007 – Catalina, now Roxy
  • We love her dearly. Her best buddy is our cat. They romp and play for hours. To say the least, she is spoiled rotten. Thank you for everything.

December 7, 2007 – Thurston Howell
  • What an awesome little boy! Thank you AAWL for allowing me adopt this handsome gentleman into my harem of 4 girls! Thurston is 9 years old and has some health issues, but with proper care and diet, he'll do fine. He loves his walks and stands on his hind legs (as in the picture) when it's time to go! He's also very smart and figured out the dog door in nothing flat!

December 6, 2007 - Tulip, now Ginger
  • Hi Everybody. Just wanted to touch base and let you all know how I am doing after leaving on Friday. When I left the shelter last Friday with my new dad, Mark, it was raining cats! He took me to his office, the Phoenix Speakers Bureau, where Heidi and Sheri work. It’s a very nice place, with lots of room to roam around. I met Murphy, who belongs to Heidi. He’s a full grown cocker. It took a little while, but we are good friends now. He doesn’t want to play as much as I do (it’s really his office), but that’s OK. By the way, Heidi and Mark think I am part cocker, part dachshund with my long body. Dad knew that Tulip wasn’t my real name. It took a while for him to go through a whole bunch of names: Bailey, Brandy, Scout, Maggie. He finally figured out that my name is Ginger. Dad took me home and showed me my new bed (half a travel crate) and the rest of the place. He took me for some walks in the rain, but I guess with all the excitement, I had a few accidents. Dad understood and didn’t get mad at me at all. He let me get on his bed for a while, but I had to sleep all night in my own bed. Oh pooh! On Saturday, he took me shopping and bought me a new collar and leash, and a little bear toy and a new name tag. We went to meet his sister, my Aunt Sally and my cousin Buddy. We got along fine. Then he took me to meet his mother (I call her my Nana). She scratched behind my ears. I liked that! She thinks I’m sweet. Sunday was a really nice day. Dad took me for a whole bunch of walks and played with me a lot. He even took me for a ride on his bike! He put me in a basket in front. I didn’t even squirm or anything. It was pretty neat to just let him chauffer me around in the sunshine! Dad let out on the back patio too. I did my business out there and I think he was pretty happy. He was dancing and singing to me, it was like a birthday party all just for me, just because I did my stuff! We had a pretty full day, and he made me sleep in my own bed again. (In the middle of the night, I got up on his bed. He didn’t even know until he woke up in the morning! He didn’t scold me, though, he just rubbed my tummy.) It’s Monday and we are at work. I guess I’ll be coming to work almost every day with him. It’s great cause I get to be with him all day, and all the other great people here, and Murphy too. Dad’s also pretty happy because I do my business out in the courtyard and not inside the office. (The guy goes nuts every time I go outside!) Here is a picture of me, so you know that I am doing great, my dad really loves me a lot and thinks I am the cutest little pup he has ever had. And I am! Thanks for letting Mark give me a new forever home. Love, Ginger.

December 2, 2007 - Pedal, now Skylar
  • Pedal, now Skylar living on the East Coast! We absolutely adore her!! Adopted on 11.10.06.

December 1, 2007 - Bosco & Juli, now Hyrum & Juli
  • Our First Thanksgiving in our Forever Home. Hyrum and I are co-writing this. Well, mom is helping because we don't type well. Hyrum was adopted from AAWL last January and I (Juli) was adopted in September from AAWL. You all may remember us as Bosco and Jenna. Hyrum and I just wanted to let everyone know we are doing well in our forever home and we had a great FIRST Thanksgiving together as a family. Our cousins from California came over so we were 5 dogs and 4 humans for Thanksgiving dinner. Since we canines had the majority vote, you would have thought we would have gotten more turkey dinner but our mom and dad kept telling us it wasn't good for us. Besides, they didn't leave much for us anyway. We will work on our negotiation skills for next year. Afterwards we got to help with dishes and go on a walk. Naps were in order too. We are soooo happy to have our forever home. Thank you AAWL for taking care of us until we could find it. -- Hyrum & Juli (Formerly Bosco & Jenna).

November 2, 2007 - Liliana, now Roxy
  • I wanted to send you a picture of Lilianna (who we have now named Roxy) who was adopted 8-5-07, and as you can tell from the picture she is well loved!

September 12, 2007 - Sunrise, now Jasmine
  • I cannot believe it has been 4 months since we adopted our puppy from AAWL. We could not be more in love with her. She was named Sunrise and is a white lab mix, however we decided to change her name after much deliberation. Her name is Jasmine and we call her Jazzy or Jazz sometimes for short and it fits her so well. She is turning one next month and we are just so happy that she is part of our family. She fit in immediately and is so gentle with our children (2.5 yr old daughter and 8 month old son), our two cats Tiger and Coconut and parrot Mikey. Yet, she can be as rough and tumble as necessary to play with my mom's two dogs. In short, we love her and cannot imagine our lives without her. Thank you for allowing us to connect.

July 9, 2007 – CW, now Copper
  • We named CW Copper. The color fit & his mannerism reminded us of the fox & the hound. He has been swimming enough to know how to get out of the pool. He is walks every morning with Spice and goes to the park in the evening. He has made friends with all the kids’ friends. He is doing well with his kennel. The most he has stayed in it was an hour. He goes outside with Spice when she goes and she already showed him the dog door. So much for keeping that a secret until he is fully house trained. They play every morning (I have learned what I need to move out of his reach). He is already sleeping with us on the beds (I know, but how do you say no to that face?). He responds to “No” very well with chewing. He has plenty to chew on (bones from PetSmart). Once again thanks for the wonderful little addition to our family. I am so glad I rescued a dog instead of going thru the breeder route again.

June 19, 2007 - Ajax
  • What a special dog we have. Thanks for keeping him just for us. The Catahoula Leopard Dog or "Catahoula Hound" is the official state dog of Louisiana. The only breed of dog native to Louisiana, it is a cross between domestic dogs raised by Indians of the Catahoula Lake region and the Spanish "war dog" that arrived in the 16th century. The Catahoula Hound has a spotted coat and webbed feet. It makes an excellent pet, guard dog and hunting companion.

Apil 28, 2007 – Puffin, now Kobe
  • Hi, I'm Kobe but you knew me, at the shelter, as Puffin. My new mom and dad, Rose and Don Merkel, adopted me on 3/28/07. I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing just great! My mom and dad love me so much and take great care of me. I enjoy going for walks everyday, going to the lake and just about anywhere my parents go. My new parents and I are a perfect match. Thank you for saving me for them! --Kobe

February 23, 2007 – Peggy, now Lucy
  • I just wanted to send you a quick update on Peggy. What an awesome dog!!! We love her! We did change her name to Lucy (none of us could get used to Peggy) and she understands that is her new name. But mostly, I just wanted to let you know that the change in both Lucy and Cooper has been dramatic. Remember the two of them sitting behind the tent, not looking at each other and just being so incredibly nervous? Well, you should see them now! They can't wait to get up every morning and run and play together. Lucy discovered that old socks are great to run around with, and even better if Cooper is on the other end of the sock running with her. They absolutely love each other. It is so much fun watching them run around together. Lucy is also starting to gain weight, so she looks much better. We have a crate for her, but only lock her in it when we are leaving the house. My husband keeps saying that of all the dogs we have adopted, she may have made the smoothest transition - no accidents in the house, no chewing, no bad behaviors at all! It constantly amazes me how people can give up such loving animals. My favorite thing about Lucy is that her whole body wags when she greets us! She is really starting to fill out nicely. I've also enclosed an action shot of Lucy and Cooper having one of their many tug of war games. They are getting along great! Lucy is so relaxed. We are not even crating her anymore when we leave the house. We come back after being gone for several hours, and everyone is peacefully sleeping and the house is in one piece. She is the sweetest dog and we are so thankful that she has joined our family! She has the sweetest disposition, and we consider ourselves lucky to have her as part of our family. Thank you so much!

October 3, 2006 – Tilly
  • A little over a month ago I convinced my roommate, Karen, to adopt Tilly. I think Tilly was only at the shelter for a few weeks. I first met her on a Saturday morning while volunteering. Tilly completely won me over. Most of the dogs there are so excited to enjoy some time out of their kennel when they're in the yard that they rarely pay attention to the volunteers who brought them there. Tilly was different. I sat down in the yard, prepared for her to do her recon. Instead, she surprised me by jumping up in my lap and giving me a kiss. She was very obedient and I saw the potential in her to become a great companion. Karen had been looking for a dog for about a year and couldn't seem to find the right match. When I emailed her Tilly's picture, she couldn't stop looking at it. I think it was because they look so much alike! A week later, I brought Karen in to meet Tilly and she quickly decided this was the perfect match for her. Tilly is doing great! She loves going to the dog park every day and enjoys learning new tricks. She's making her way through the Masters of the Universe class at AAWL with good progress. Within the first couple of weeks that we had her, she actually brought me my cell phone when it rang! Karen and I love having her around. Karen couldn't be happier with Tilly. This experience makes me look forward to volunteering on Saturday mornings because I know in a small way I'm helping other people find their perfect match, too. Thanks so much to AAWL and all the staff that works so hard to match these dogs with their "forever families"!

"May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am."

A note from our furry friends waiting for a second chance.

"My Wish List..."
  1. A forever home with a loving family.
  2. Bedding, comforters, blankets, towels to keep me warm on the cold nights.
  3. Toys to keep my mind stimulated and my spirit up.
  4. Your spare change to help keep me fed, healthy, safe, and warm.
  5. Volunteers to be my friend and visit me anytime.
  6. Tell one person about the AAWL/SPCA and ask them to tell another.
  7. People to buy all kinds of things at the AAWL/SPCA Thrift Store so my caretakers can care for me as best as possible while I wait for my new family.
